Unifrax’s product lines apply to a wide variety of different areas in the fire protection market. See below for a list of applications where Unifrax’s products may be able to fit your needs.
Unifrax materials are incorporated into soft and metallic heat-shields used in the aerospace industry to provide thermal (operating conditions) and fire protection insulation. Customers can choose from a variety of thin, lightweight papers and felts or fabricated systems to meet the demanding requirements of this industry. Product options provide high temperature capability, resistance to vibration and moisture, very low thermal conductivity in lightweight, thin forms that provide maximum insulation in a minimum space. Most materials are used to aid the heat shield at meeting FAA fire test requirements.
FyreWrap Combi-Film 3G11 is a lightweight, durable, heat-sealable insulation blanket cover film used as a flame barrier to meet Aircraft Fuselage Burnthrough Regulations. Combi-Film 3G11 is used in the fabrication of insulation blankets for Transport Category aircraft subject to FAR 25.856 fire worthiness regulations. This product is based on proprietary fire blocking technology specifically developed as a flame barrier for applications demanding high performance using extremely lightweight materials.
Unifrax is a leading supplier of insulating materials to manufacturers of high temperature and fire-rated chimney systems. Blanket insulation is utilized between double-walled stainless steel chimneys to minimize heat loss through the chimney and to maintain optimum draft. The insulation keeps the outer wall of the chimney cool enabling the system to be installed at reduced clearances to combustibles. The insulation materials enable the chimneys to achieve “HT” ratings with the thinnest and lightest design. Durablanket S, insulating blanket has excellent tensile strength and compression recovery offering a strong product for manufacturing handling and assembly.
Unifrax is a leading supplier of insulating materials to manufacturers of mechanical expansion joint covers. A wide variety of product forms including Papers, FyreWrap XFP Expanding Paper and Blankets are incorporated into fire barriers used in conjunction with expansion joint cover plates to prevent fire spread through joint openings to adjacent areas of the building. Unifrax materials are superior insulators, lightweight, flexible and easy to fabricate. They are strong, yet flexible and capable of withstanding the rigors of fabrication, installation and fire exposure. Many have been incorporated in to fire barrier designs tested to meet new seismic movement criteria. Many product versions are UL classified or Recognized Components which allows for easy incorporation into customers systems that are being developed and tested at independent labs.
Unifrax manufactures several types of specialty fibers which are used as functional additives in coatings, adhesives, caulks, sealants, plastics and elastomers.
The fibers are completely inorganic and provide high temperature reinforcement. This can assist formulations achieve low flame spread and smoke emission ratings. In addition, the fibers offer excellent high temperature insulation, that is advantageous for coatings and paints used in fire resistive applications.
